Rail-Bus Passes
Our Rail-Bus Passes are a combination of our Rail Passes and the Intercity Bus Passes and includes ferry travel, giving you maximum freedom to explore New Zealand in your own way.
You can use the passes on any of the 3 long distance train journeys and the InterCity FlexiPass® gives you access to over 120 daily bus services to more than 600 towns, cities, and communities nationwide - letting you hop on/off anywhere!
To make it easier to travel between the North and South Islands, ferry trips on the Interislander ferry are included in your pass.

How do Bus Passes work?
A New Zealand Travel Team RailBus Pass is a flexible ‘Book As You Go’ travel pass that allows you to travel on New Zealand’s 3 long-distance passenger train services between Auckland and Wellington, Picton to Christchurch, Christchurch to Greymouth.
Your choice of an Intercity Flexi Bus Pass and ferry sailing/s between the North and South Islands by purchasing the number of ‘Travel’ days you want to use and travel whenever it suits, for either up to1 or up to 2 months ( depending on the pass ) from the date of your first journey.
New Zealand RailBus Passes are suited for independent travellers, families or small groups, who are travelling together on the same routes, to the same destinations.
Rail-Bus Passes have an expiry date of 30 June 2025 so please make sure your date of travel falls before that time.
